Frequently asked questions
What kind of projects will be started in the community? The Total Grid Community is dedicated to driving innovation to make the grid smarter. We envision numerous projects around standards such as IEC 61850, ICCP (TASE.2), IEC 61970/61968 (CIM), and many others as the power industry harmonizes the needs and standards of today. In addition, Reef's core services provide an excellent ecosystem for creating intelligent apps to support distributed generation (DG), microgrids, renewable integration and control, distribution and substation automation to name a few.
How can I participate in the community? Anyone with an interest in open source development for the smart grid is welcome here. Just go to the project site you are interested in. There you can download files, modify code, view discussions or just plain poke around.
Why do we call one of our projects Reef? Reef is the core set of services that work with all other projects. We think of Reef as the infrastructure of a Coral "Reef" providing a robust ecosystem for other projects to leverage.
